My role at UCSD

I assist departments with the employment of students in on-campus jobs.  This includes training, policy and procedure implementation and interpretation, and quality assurance of personnel actions.

My career path

I began with and am still involved in the helping professions.  High school and college years saw me working as a physical therapy assistant. After graduating with a degree in social work, I began employment with low-income housing for the City of San Diego. I then moved to the San Diego County Department of Social Services.  My employment with UCSD began in 1983 when I was hired by the Financial Aid Office, Student Employment. Our division joined the Career Services Center in 1985.

The rewards in doing what I do

Ensuring that students are employed fairly and serving as a reliable resource for departments.

My words of wisdom to students

Be timely and persistent, and always follow through.

When I'm not on campus...

I can be found enjoying my family – husband, children, grandchildren – and friends. My garden is a National Wildlife Federation-recognized backyard habitat. Reading and walking are other pleasurable pastimes. And someday I’ll finish and publish my family cookbook!
