My role at UCSD |
|
As the
graduate student advisor, I have the pleasure of advising
master’s and doctoral students concerning their career
development needs. I also work closely with the Office of
Graduate Studies (OGS), the Graduate Student Association
(GSA), and many academic departments to create and develop
career-oriented programs and events that will have a
positive impact on a graduate student’s career search. |
|
My career path |
|
My career
started in industry, where I worked for several years at a
consumer products marketing and consulting firm. I also
experienced the online frenzy during the
turn-of-the-millennium internet bubble, while working for a
dot-com. Prior to joining UCSD, and while pursuing a
graduate degree at Northwestern University, I had the
opportunity to create and develop a unique academic program
focusing on undergraduate research and scholarship, which I
directed full-time during its first four years. |
|
The rewards in doing what I do |
|
Being able
to use my knowledge and experience to help students bridge
the gap between where they are and where they want to be is
extremely gratifying. |
|
My words of wisdom to students |
|
Whatever
you do, make an impact. |
|
When I'm not on campus... |
|
My wife
and I enjoy the beach, finding unique San Diego restaurants
and coffee houses, and traveling. I also enjoy surfing,
running, reading, and spending time with family and friends. |
