My role at UCSD

As the graduate student advisor, I have the pleasure of advising master’s and doctoral students concerning their career development needs. I also work closely with the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), the Graduate Student Association (GSA), and many academic departments to create and develop career-oriented programs and events that will have a positive impact on a graduate student’s career search.

My career path

My career started in industry, where I worked for several years at a consumer products marketing and consulting firm.  I also experienced the online frenzy during the turn-of-the-millennium internet bubble, while working for a dot-com.  Prior to joining UCSD, and while pursuing a graduate degree at Northwestern University, I had the opportunity to create and develop a unique academic program focusing on undergraduate research and scholarship, which I directed full-time during its first four years.

The rewards in doing what I do

Being able to use my knowledge and experience to help students bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be is extremely gratifying.

My words of wisdom to students

Whatever you do, make an impact.

When I'm not on campus...

My wife and I enjoy the beach, finding unique San Diego restaurants and coffee houses, and traveling.  I also enjoy surfing, running, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
