My role at UCSD |
|
I work with the administrative, technology,
and marketing staff to provide the foundational services for
the UCSD Career Services Center’s primary mission: “to help
students and alumni of the University of California
determine and fulfill their career goals.” |
|
My career path |
|
In high school, I created custom-made
furniture. In college, I worked summers as a frame and trim
carpenter before finding a position at a University of
Colorado pharmacology lab. When I wasn’t conducting
research at the university, I taught hang gliding in
Colorado, Utah, and California. After coming to California,
I worked in a commercial laboratory making an allergy
diagnostic that was on the market for about fifteen years.
Before coming to UCSD, I was an executive at two San Diego
biotech companies and a non-profit medical research
institute. |

The rewards in doing what I do |
|
The most
rewarding positions I’ve held were those where I was
directly involved with people, especially in education.
Therefore, it was natural for me to settle into an
association with UCSD. While my connection with the
students here may not be direct, it’s no less rewarding. I
hope that everything I do makes a positive impact on the
students and alumni who use our services.
There is nothing more rewarding than to know we’ve helped
shape a brighter future by helping our students build their
careers. |

My words of wisdom to students |
|
Make learning as natural and essential in
your life as breathing. |
|
When I'm not on campus... |
|
I garden and work around our house. I scuba
dive and assist with the UCSD scuba classes. My wife and I
bicycle, swim, hike, camp, and basically do anything we can
to enjoy the California out-of-doors. |
