My role at UCSD |
|
I help students learn about or apply for
admission to professional or graduate schools. Also, as an
assistant director of the Career Services Center, I head up
the Professional and Graduate School Opportunities Program,
the central campus resource serving all UCSD students and
alumni. |
|
My career path |
|
I came to UCSD in 1973. After a short time
in the Office of the Registrar, I moved to a position in
medical education and student affairs at UCSD School of
Medicine. After five interesting and enjoyable years working
with medical school students, staff and faculty, I became
the chief pre-medical advisor for the undergraduate campus
and the coordinator of career services center for students
interested in the biological and health sciences. By 1985,
and with the assistance of a larger staff, our services grew
to help all students interested in all graduate and
professional school fields. |
|
The rewards in doing what I do |
|
Students walk in feeling confused and
overwhelmed. I help clear the confusion and break down
their concerns. While helping them, I get the pleasure of
becoming acquainted with them in return. I consider myself
very lucky. |
|
My words of wisdom to students |
|
Charting your future involves learning about
the world and aiming for a fulfilling career starts with
knowing yourself. |
|
When I'm not on campus... |
|
I’m enjoying myself with my daughter, a
college student, and my husband, a faculty member in the
Physics Department at UCSD. |
