My role at UCSD |
|
As a career
advisor, my ultimate goal is to assist students with making
decisions about their career goals, as well as motivating
and encouraging students to start a career plan of action. |
|
My career path |
|
My career
path began as a toss-up between education and business.
Working as a graduate intern at the Human Resource
Department at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory,
and then as an Intern Advisor for the Educational
Opportunity Program at Cal State Hayward opened many doors
for me in both the private sector and educational
institutions. I enjoyed both working environments and gained
tremendously valuable skills which prepared me for two
different occupations. As a self-supported graduate student
attending school full time while holding two paid internship
positions, I sacrificed a great deal on my journey, but in
the end, the payoff was well worth it. |

The rewards in doing what I do |
|
Ever since
I was in high school, I knew I wanted to be in a helping
profession. I wanted to give back to the educational
community. I had two mentors along the way who guided me
and motivated me toward an educational career. I love seeing
students’ growth and accomplishments when they walk in and
out of my office, sharing success stories on getting
internships, jobs, and much more. |

My words of wisdom to students |
|
Anything
you do in life is considered experience that is invaluable
to your personal and career development – don’t forget that.
Take advantage of all opportunities that may come your way,
as they could only lead to bigger and brighter future
endeavors. |

When I'm not on campus... |
|
I take full
advantage of the beautiful outdoors in sunny San Diego with
my family. |
