The UC San Diego Career Center is committed to partnering with employment professionals that comply with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws in all recruiting activities and abide by NACE’s Principles for Professional Practice. And, while this office provides services to students and alumni, it is not responsible for any representations or guarantees with regard to employment opportunities, nor is it responsible for wages, working conditions, safety, or other work-related issues that may arise after employment. It is the obligation of the students/alumni to notify our office and seek information and legal representation if they feel they are being discriminated against or mistreated in the workplace. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the students or alumni to be vigilant of any persons seeking personal information (e.g. social security number, date of birth, etc.) representing themselves as an “employer” via Handshake.
Handshake Access Sharing Policy: Handshake services are available exclusively to current UC San Diego students and Alumni. Employers list positions with the expectation that applicants will be UC San Diego students or alumni. Permitting others to access your account to apply to a job posting on Handshake creates confusion and may discourage their future use of this valuable student resource. As a result, students who misuse their accounts may lose access to Port Handshake.

Note: Although rare, on occasion a fraudulent posting may make its way into the Handshake job/internship listings. Please visit our Fraudulent Postings and Preventative Measures page for tips on how to avoid falling victim to this illegal activity.
