PhD & Master's Student Advisor
|
I have the pleasure of advising PhD and Master's candidates as they prepare for life after graduate school. I also develop career-oriented programs and events for graduate students pursuing careers in academia and beyond. To provide the most current and valuable resources and information, I make it a priority to work closely with UC San Diego's Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), the Graduate Student Association (GSA), academic departments, and professionals--many alumni--representing the public and private sectors.
Upon earning a bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton, School of Business and Economics, I worked for a decade in management consulting providing marketing and brand strategies for Fortune 500 consumer products and services companies, including Nestlé USA, Nabisco, Newman's Own, and Starbucks. I was then hired as the marketing manager and content editor for a dot-com startup, during the turn-of-the-millennium internet frenzy.
Prior to joining UC San Diego, and while earning a graduate degree at Northwestern University, I spearheaded the creation and development of the Undergraduate Success in Science (USS) Program in collaboration with Professor Hilary Godwin. Designed to enhance the transition to college, the USS Program introduces undergraduates to a research laboratory early in their academic careers, promotes scientific and team-building skills, and supports students' research and scholarship during the summer and academic year.
Sharing my knowledge and experience to help students and professionals bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be.
Read good books and meet good people.
I enjoy sunny San Diego and traveling with my wife and son. I also enjoy surfing, running, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
