My role at UC San Diego
I serve as a Career Advisor and specifically help students with exploring different career paths or industries, and additionally help those who are in need of assistance with finding internships, volunteer experiences and/or research opportunities.
My career path
When I first started college I wanted to be a dentist and after shadowing a dentist for a semester, I then realized that wasn’t the profession for me because I couldn’t handle seeing blood! So then I switched majors from biology to business communications. After changing majors, I became very involved on campus and from there realized I wanted to work at a university and help students achieve their dreams, goals, and aspirations. I then pursued a masters in Student Affairs and Higher Education at Colorado State University and for the past five years I’ve had the pleasure of directly working with and supporting students towards their personal and professional goals.
The rewards in doing what I do
I help students with establishing tangible and actionable steps towards their personal and professional goals and it’s incredibly rewarding for me to see students pursue and achieve their dreams and aspirations.
My words of wisdom to students
Get involved on campus! There are so many great people on this campus who want to see you to success which includes faculty, staff and your peers! Get to know people on campus and build your skill sets in an areas you’re passionate about.
In my free time...
In my free time I write music for television programs and tv commercials. I also really enjoy working out, playing tennis, and going boating with friends.
