- About Me
My role at UC San Diego
As the Interim Director of Career, Education and Advising my goal is to lead by inspiring vision and being a collaborative synergist between our UC San Diego community, our student population and our Career Education Advising team. In addition, I support, develop, train and motivate a team of intellectually savvy and talented career advisors who deliver innovative, creative student-centered programming to our UC San Diego student population. Career readiness is at the forefront of the work that we do and I am honored to be part of it!
My career path
Early in my life I was inspired by my parents to pursue a career in the helping profession. As a freshman, I declared pre-nursing as my major with a minor in psychology. A year into my studies, I realized that nursing wasn’t for me and I decided to make my psychology minor my major. Later, with guidance from a mentor and through work experience…I fell in love with the student services profession. I ended up working as a program coordinator for a pre-health program and the rest is history. I currently hold a B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Counseling. I also have sixteen years of experience in higher education as a career advisor, academic counselor, and associate director/director of various career services programs as well as other student service areas. I have to say that I love what I do.
The rewards in doing what I do
Helping students with career advice and watching them grow from their career exploration stage to implementing a plan and reaching their ultimate career goal.
My words of wisdom to students
It is never too early to research and experience different career paths. Don’t postpone getting an internship or applying for a job that is related to your career path just because you believe that it’s too early in your college experience.
In my free time...
I enjoy spending time with my family and partaking in the myriad of activities Southern California has to offer. I also enjoy helping diverse students gain access to higher education and helping military service members with transitioning out of the military into the civilian workforce.
