- About Me
My role at UC San Diego
In my role as associate director, I oversee our center's Experiential & Employment Services and Professional Advising Services teams. This includes coordinating employer relations activities, student employment, and our career preparatory programs. I also continue to coach students on anything and everything related to careers and job searching. You may also see me presenting at one of our many career-related workshops or special events.
My career path
When I graduated with my BA degree, I was one of those psychology majors who didn't know what they could do with just a bachelor's degree. My first job was in juvenile probation working with adolescents and their families. Eventually, I completed my MA in counseling and landed a position here at UC San Diego as a Career Advisor. My career progression has led me to the roles of graduate student career coordinator, assistant director, and now the center's first associate director.
The rewards in doing what I do
I thoroughly enjoy playing a small role in helping to launch the careers of bright, motivated students and alumni like you. In particular, I take pride in seeing students gain confidence in themselves and their ability to decide on a career direction and land that first meaningful full-time position.
My words of wisdom to students
Trust your own instincts and know that even though the job search process may seem overwhelming at times, you've got the tools to be successful if you stick with it.
In my free time...
I enjoy hanging out with my family, coaching my son's baseball team, or listening to and playing music.
