UC San Diego First Destination Survey

Graduating UC San Diego students used a wide variety of search strategies to secure their first jobs out of college. Networking, including making connections with Alumni, attributed to nearly 18% finding employment. Nearly thirty-seven percent of employed respondents converted internships or previous job experience into permanent career positions. Thirty-three percent utilized online resources to find their positions, including job boards, employer websites, social networking, and listings posted on the Career Center’s Port Triton. Direct employer contact methods, including Triton Fairs and on-campus interviewing, resulted in employment for approximately nearly 10% of respondents.
