Discover Your Dream Career Workshop:  Application (pdf)
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce undergraduate students to the career development process and assist them with choosing a career path that is compatible with their skills, interests, values and personality type.  You will take career assessments, participate in a variety of career exploration activities, and develop an action plan that will assist you in choosing a career. 

Career Planning Class:  Introduction to Career Development - HDP 98 (pdf)
This 2 unit course provides students with the opportunity to examine their interests, personality, skills and values as they relate to careers.  With this information, students explore potential career options and develop a plan to accomplish their career goals.  Students will complete an on-line career portfolio, write a resume and cover letter and learn interviewing techniques.  Offered Fall and Spring quarters through the Human Development Program.

Professional Career Development Seminar - Course Syllabus (Winter Only)
This one unit interactive, hands-on course targeted to juniors and seniors focuses on effective job search strategies to land that first position plus important professional development skills to be successful and advance in one’s chosen field. Through class lectures, corporate guest speakers, practice sessions, and homework assignments you will learn advanced interviewing techniques, how to use your skills to market yourself to employers, business etiquette techniques, personal financial management, career advancement strategies through professional networking, an introduction to leadership and professional communication/presentation skills, and how to develop your Career Portfolio to reflect your newly developed skills. Offered Winter quarter through the Human Development Program.

Career Exploration Panels
Attend panel presentations during Fall and Winter quarters to meet and make contact with professionals in your chosen career field and learn more about what career options are available.  Hear professionals discuss their career paths, education, typical daily tasks, skills and qualifications.

Interviewing to Win
At every level of your career, the job interview can make or break an employer’s decision to hire you.  Find out how to start an interview, how to communicate your skills effectively when answering questions and how to follow-up afterwards.  There will be an opportunity to practice behavioral based questions.

Writing a Winning Resume
Want to make your resume stand out from the competition?  Learn how to market your skills and experience effectively on paper so you stand out above the rest.  This workshop covers the basic components of a resume, formatting strategies and emphasizes the importance of tailoring your resume to a particular position.

Job Search Strategies
What's the best way to start your job search off on the right track?  In this popular workshop, our career advisors will tell you which job search methods prove most effective for UCSD students.  Get an overview of a multitude of job search tactics and begin the process of selecting the strategies that make the most sense for you.

On-Camera Practice Interviewing for Employment
Interviews are a key part of any job search, but knowing what to say - and how to say it - can be tricky.  In this small-group workshop, you’ll build your confidence by responding to real interview questions; receiving immediate feedback from a career expert.  Learn by watching others, and get helpful tips from your peers. 

Making the Most of a Job Fair
Learn how to make the best use of your time, how to approach employers, what questions to ask and how best to prepare to make a great first impression.  Career Advisors will be available for resume critiques following the workshop.  Offered every quarter, a day or two prior to each job fair.

UCDC Program Information Session
If you’ve ever wanted to live and work in the nation’s capital and get UC credit for it, this program is for you!  The UCDC program sends students in all majors to intern and study in Washington, D.C., every quarter.  Come find out more about requirements, deadlines, and the application process.

SAGE Scholars Program Information Session
Discover the SAGE (Student Achievement Guided by Experience) Scholars Program, a unique partnership between business and education that offers paid internship experiences with such organizations as Merrill Lynch, Union Bank, BAE Systems, Beckman Coulter, Sempra Energy, Conexant, LPL Financial Services, and Northrop Grumman as well as a $4000 scholarship. Come learn about the program benefits, eligibility requirements, and application procedures.
