Graduating UCSD
students used a wide variety of search strategies to secure their
first jobs out of college. Forty percent of employed respondents
utilized online job listings to find their positions, including
listings found on the Career Services Center’s Port Triton and
employer web sites. Networking techniques, and internship/previous
experience combined accounted for one-third of successful job
outcomes. Direct employer contact methods, including job fairs and
on-campus interviewing, resulted in employment for approximately 20
percent of respondents.
