Samantha Steele

Career Fair Coordinator

My role at UC San Diego

In collaboration with the Industry Engagement team, I have the distinct privilege of cultivating student-employer relations. Through the planning, organizing, and implementation of employment events, I help to connect the career interests of UC San Diego students and the employment needs of companies across all industries.

My career path

After receiving my B.A. in Public Administration from San Diego State University,  I worked for a business coaching firm developing strategic alliances and overseeing the coordination of business education seminars. I then re-entered higher education and spent over five years in university advancement, specifically in enrollment management recruitment and marketing Point Loma Nazarene University where I also earned my M.A. in Organizational Leadership.

The rewards in doing what I do

I am passionate about helping college students achieve their personal and professional aspirations through finding a sense of belonging and confidence in their unique background and strengths. This is just one of many reasons I find my work in the Career Center rewarding.

My words of wisdom to students

1) Find a career that complements both your professional strengths and personal values.  And 2) Be receptive to different ways you can apply your degree. Each new work experience, no matter how irrelevant you may think it is to your end goal, makes you more marketable and expands your professional opportunities in the future.

In my free time...

As a native San Diegan, I take advantage of our weather and soak up as much time as I can outdoors. I also enjoy traveling, catching the latest NFL or college basketball game and spending time with loved ones, including my dog, Rose.
